Welcome to our Summer Newsletter. In a few weeks, we will all be having a spring in our steps as the weather gets sunnier.

Here are a few things we would like you to note.

Teacher strikes

Two teacher strikes have been announced by the National Education Union for April 27th and May 2nd. The nursery will be open as normal.

Home learning

We have been sending the home learning bags. These are activities parents should endeavour to do with the children. The aim is for parents to have an insight into how your children learn and what learning stages they are. It is supposed to be fun and children are not to be forced. We send the bags home on Wednesdays and Fridays. Please ensure that the bags are returned so some other activities can be sent home.

Activities we do during the week

Daisies (babies) will continue to go to Soft Play and alternate with music and movement sessions every other Wednesday.

Lilies (toddlers) have music and movements every Wednesday facilitated by Caterpillar Music Company.

Daffodils (Preschoolers) continue to have French lessons every Tuesday.

Warmer Weather

As we are now gearing towards Summer, please provide suitable clothing as there will be an increase in outdoor activities.

Parent Questionnaire

To help us keep up standards and continue to be open to your ideas, the annual questionnaire will be sent out digitally. Please we would appreciate if you could take the time to fill it. It will help us serve your children and yourselves better. We always seek to improve our practice.

Things we have lined up

Visit to the Food Bank

This week, the Pre-Schoolers will be visiting Mitcham Lane Baptist Church to drop the donations we received for Red Nose Day. We are continuing to teach the children about the act of giving and kindness. Donations are still accepted till Tuesday 25th of April.

Deen City Farm Visit

We are planning a visit to Deen City Farm this term. The farm is based in the heart of South London so we are thinking of taking public transport but if we can get a cheap coach, that will be the preferred option. The children will get to see the animals, go on a tractor or take a pony ride.

A big thank you to all the parents who went with us to the London Transport Museum last term. We could not do it without your help.

Graduation Ceremony

A few of our Daffodils are graduating to Reception in September. We celebrate them on this day for all the hard work. This year’s event will be on Wednesday, July 19th, 2023. We are missing them already.

Football Sessions

We are in the process of arranging our football sessions. More information will be given once this is sorted.

New Staff Member

You must have all met Miss Nicole Burns who joined us a few months ago. She was introduced on Tapestry. She has had many years of experience working with children in her home country of South Africa.

Fee Review

As stated last year, our annual fee review will be in July. All parents will get the new fee structure in June, but the fee review will take effect from July.

Conjunctivitis

We have had reported incidents of Conjunctivitis in the nursery. To be considerate of other children and staff, kindly keep your child at home until they get better in case they have it. Conjunctivitis is highly contagious.

Can you guess what Jeff the elf was up to last Christmas?

Below are a few pictures of what Jeff was up to last Christmas. A big thank you to all parents that participated.
