Welcome to the Spring 2023 Newsletter! It is a brand new year with a lot of new and exciting activities planned. Our children are settling into their routine already, which is great.

Strep A

Scarlet Fever/Strep A is still a threat so we still need to keep our children safe i.e. washing hands, use of antibacterial gel when needed, and, if preferred, the use of face masks in very busy places. You will be called to pick up your child immediately if they have flu-like symptoms with a high temperature, a rash on the chest and tummy or a ‘strawberry tongue’. If your child has been given Calpol due to an illness before they come to nursery, we will not accept them. The only exception is when the child is teething.

Invoicing

Our services are prepaid. From this term onwards, parents that pay weekly will be invoiced every Monday. Parents that pay monthly will be invoiced for the next month.

Soft play

For babies, we are alternating Music and Movement with a visit to soft play. It will be taking place at Streatham Ice and Leisure Centre every other Wednesday. This will be good to enhance gross motor skills and also social skills.

Toddlers will continue to have Music and Movement on Wednesdays.

Preschool will continue with French on Tuesdays and we will make visits to the library regularly.

Parking

It has come to our attention that there are parents who are parking on the disabled bay on Lilian Road. Please be advised that these disabled bays were requested specifically by the homeowners. You are at risk of a fine if you park in the disabled bay without a valid pass.

Deposits

For new children, a month’s deposit will be required rather than a week. Deposits can be used to cover the child’s notice period or their last month at nursery.

Morning Drop-off

We encourage parents to change the children into their indoor slippers and to say a proper goodbye.  It helps reassure the children and settle them throughout the day. This is the nursery’s policy. Sometimes you need to rush off, but this cannot be every day.

Appropriate clothing

Winter is here! Please provide appropriate warm clothing for the children because they would have to go into the garden for a few minutes during the day. Please ensure clothing is properly labelled with their names.

Existing injuries

We would appreciate if we are informed that the child had an accident at home. An existing injury form will be given for you to fill out and sign during pick up. If an existing injury is not mentioned and we notice, a picture will be uploaded immediately on tapestry asking what happened.

Tapestry observations

We would like to reiterate that our babies to 2 year olds will have daily observations and diaries uploaded onto Tapestry. Once they turn 2, this will be reduced to once or twice a week as we believe they have mastered their routine in nursery and staff would rather spend more time with their learning and development.

Staff

Ms Stephanie is sadly leaving us to relocate to Dubai to continue her teaching career. Ms Stephanie will be greatly missed by the children and the staff. We wish her all the best on her endeavours!
